Holidays are the busiest time of the year composed of parties, family reunions, and delightful food. But many people blame themselves for putting on weight after the holidays. So, you are determined to burn those nasty calories and get in the good body shape again, but you don’t know where to start?

Here are 7 ways to get rid of the extra calories from holiday feasting.

Supplements. There are numerous products in the stores whose producers try to convince us that you will lose those extra pounds very quickly and effectively without changing your eating habits and without replacing your sedentary life for a more active one. Indeed, they can work very well. If you decide to use it, always consider your health, so choose the ones with natural ingredients. Some plants can boost up your metabolism (for example, forskolin extract[1]), enhance your immunity and cleanse your liver and bloodstream after a long period of indulgence of caloric and tasteful meals (green tea[2] and apple cider vinegar[3]). Those natural supplements have the ability to improve health and to burn extra fat simultaneously.

Drink water, not soda. Try to stay hydrated and drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Proper hydration will help your mind work better and focus on what is important. Hydration is extremely important because dehydration can have the same symptoms as hunger, so your body can be falsely convinced that you need food and not water. Also, stay away from soda because those beverages are literary loaded with sugar. You can easily put on weight not being cautious.

Eat more often and focus on raw food. Let your daily menu be composed of smaller and more frequent meals. You will feel full sooner and you will eat less. Focus more on fruits and salads and minimize processed food. Give your body the sufficient daily dose of vitamins to function properly. Eat food rich in fibers to enhance your digestion process. People who praise raw food state that cooking destroys vital vitamins and minerals needed for our health and they are right. Raw food is low in calories, so it helps us lose weight more quickly and detoxicate our body.[4]

Increase protein. Proteins are crucial for your muscles to function properly. They have a longer process of digestion, so food rich with proteins will make you full on a longer term than a meal that contains only carbs. The optimal meal for weight loss should be composed of proteins, low-carb fruits or salads, and unsaturated fats. Besides meat and eggs that are widely known to be valuable sources of protein, you can try something different. For example, greek yogurt, peanut butter, quinoa and green peas are also high-protein food.

Focus on unsaturated fats and cut back sugar. Saturated fats and sugar are the main causes of obesity in the developed world. They are widely present in everyday life, so there isn’t a possibility of avoiding it 100%. But if you pay more attention to ingredients of specific food, sooner or later you will learn what to avoid. Unsaturated fats are healthy in many ways, but unfortunately, they are not always on our menu. They help us lower our cholesterol, and keep our waist thin. Some valuable sources of unsaturated fats are almonds, avocado, salmon, olive oil, and much more.

Exercise. Of course, physical activity has an important role in burning fat, moving your muscles, boosting your metabolism and shaping your body. Find the activity that suits you. Be dedicated and determined and visualize the body you want to get to keep yourself motivated.

Relax and destress. Don’t set too ambitious and unrealistic goals. Nothing happens overnight. Enjoy the holidays and focus on positive moments. Self-critical thoughts can be harmful and stress can make you crave junk food. Step out of that toxic circle and think positive.
